Dear Pennekamp Families,

Welcome to the 2006-2007 school year!  Hopefully, you have had a wonderful summer, filled with fun, frolic, and family outings.  The time has gone by so quickly!  We look forward to seeing the children's smiling faces when school beings on Wednesday, August 30th.  The Pennekamp staff is eagerly anticipating the upcoming year and the exciting activities and events that lie ahead.

With school beginning in just a few weeks, we wanted to provide you with some information that will be helpful in preparing for the upcoming year.  Please have your children bring the supplies delineated on the grade-level supply lists that you received at the end of last year.  Supply lists can be found on our website here:  School Supply Lists for 2006-2007 School Year

Our school office will be open full-time (8:00-4:30) beginning Monday, August 21st.  Our office staff consists of Priscilla Harris, office manager; Gertie Hill, office clerk; and Gale Davis, health assistant.  Please don't hesitate to stop by the office of call (798-6223) if you need assistance or have any questions.

Important Dates

• Class List Posting - Friday, August 25th, 5:00pm - Office Window                                Note:  All class placements are final.  Changes will not be made.

• PEP, Kindergarten and New Family Orientation - Tuesday August 29th, 2:00-3:00pm (on kindergarten playground - for parents and children)

• PEP and Kindergarten 'Back-To-School Night' - Tuesday, August 29th - 6:00pm for parents only

• First Day of School - Wednesday, August 30th.  Note:  We will be on 'Early Wednesday Schedule' on the first day (see schedules below)

• Grades 1-5 'Back-To-School Night' - Wednesday, September 13th - Classrooms

• PTA Meeting - Tuesday, September 26th, 7:00pm - Pennekamp Cafetorium

PM PEP and PM Kindergarten    =  11:25-2:45

PEP Plus  =  8:00-1:30

Grades 1, 2, 3  =  8:15-2:15

Grades 4, 5  =  8:15-2:45

Schedule for 'Early Wednesdays'    This schedule is in effect every Wednesday*

AM PEP and AM Kindergarten    =  8:00-11:20

PM PEP and PM Kindergarten    =  10:10-1:30

PEP Plus  =  8:00-1:30

Grades 1, 2, 3  =  8:15-1:30

Grades 4, 5  =  8:15-1:30

* Monitoring will be provided free of charge in the Cafetorium from 1:30-2:45 on Wednesdays

Note:  Students in grades 1-5 eat lunch at school.  They may bring a lunch from home or purchase a cafeteria lunch for $2.25 (includes milk).  Students are encouraged to bring a midmorning snack.
