2006-2007 5th Grade Pennekamp Dragons Supply List

[Please, follow the directions for what we ask: if it says "1 box of 24 crayons" (which it does), do not bring in two boxes or a box of 48 or 16 crayons.]

Mandatory Supplies:

  • Daily planner, math binder, and reader subscription - these will total $10 and you will purchase them via check (made out to your homeroom teacher) or cash the first days of school.

  • 2 or 3 plastic folders (they last longer), three-inner tabs (for holding three-hole-punched papers) not necessary but recommended.

  • 1 ream of wide ruled paper (we've found college ruled to be too small for clear, legible writing!)

  • 1 ream of white copy paper

  • 1 set of index dividers (5-tab) with pockets

  • 3  120-count or higher spiral notebooks (70 sheets won't cut it!) - Get three different colors if possible - one for math, one for social studies, and one for science.

  • 2 glue sticks (regular size - not jumbo)

  • 1 pair of scissors

  • 1 large box of Kleenex

  • 1 heavy duty nylon or canvas zippered-pouch (not plastic) - you will store lots in here, make it durable

  • 2 standard-size pencil-boxes (no bigger than 9" x 6" x 3") - One will be for art supplies, and the other will store ALL of your extra desk items - no exceptions!

  • 8 regular or mechanical pencils.  At least four of them must be regular, #2 wooden pencils.

  • 4 erasable pens (blue or black ink)

  • 4 highlighters (thin preferred) - one blue, one green, one yellow and one pink

  • 2 sets of colored pencils - 1 set of 24 colors and 1 set of 12 colors. (Must have R, O, Y, G, B, V, Br., Blk.)

  • 1 set of thick, primary-colored markers (8-10 count) - must contain R, O, Y, G, B, V, Br., Blk.

  • 1 box of crayons - 24 count

  • 1 "Pink pearl" eraser

  • And Lastly:  1 large organizer/keeper/3-ring binder thing to keep yourself, and all your papers and supplies organized

Optional Supplies - but HIGHLY recommended (i.e., you will probably need them):

  • A simple electronic spell checker with thesaurus - (the more expensive dictionary version is also fine, as long as it has spell check capability)

  • Sticky notes - smallest size fine

If you wish to donate other supplies, please see your homeroom teacher in fall, as there will be a few inexpensive, yet specific items each teacher will need, such as paper towels, zip-lock baggies, paper goods, etc.

1 emergency pack: One gallon-size Ziploc bag filled with a juice box or water and non-perishable, wrapped food that your child will eat. Please clearly label the bag with your child's name and room number.
