Manhattan Beach Education Foundation (MBEF) is a non-profit, district-wide organization that provides grants to support teacher and district-wide requests in response to the widening gap between state funding and the level of academic excellence demanded by Manhattan Beach families. MBEF grants (in partnership with PTAs) have grown to include funding for class size reduction, PE, library and technology personnel, classroom assistants (4th and 5th grades), Educational Support Specialists and Instrumental Music Specialists salaries just to name a few at the Elementary school level. The Foundation’s funding comes directly from membership, businesses and corporate sponsors, and fundraising events. All parents are encouraged to support MBEF’s annual appeal and fundraising. All parents are welcome to attend the monthly MBEF Board of Directors meetings held on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM in the MBUSD Education Center Board Room. Individuals are encouraged to become involved in the various committees that support the Board’s work. Contact the MBEF office directly or our Pennekamp representative for further information.
