It was a beautiful day for the Pennekamp first grade classes to visit the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. 

While waiting for everyone to arrive, the first graders played "Simon Says"

and read the signs that described everything that they would see inside.

Lunch time 

and then

time to head in!

The big tank was SOOOOO cool

and a little bit scary because the animals were so large.

Everyone loved the tanks

because there was

so much to see!

Everything kept changing

so it was difficult to decide what to look at first!

Of course the touch tanks

are always a favorite

since it means

you get wet!

There were star fish everywhere

and aquarium staff let everyone gently touch them.

The aquarium staff talked to us

about tidepool inhabitants

and how to walk like a crab!
